What a pathologically adolescent school-yard view of violence. Self-defense should be the opposite of a "fair fight". The more unfair it is in favor of the attackee, the more effective it is at protecting the attackee and deterring the attacker. The better justice is served.https://twitter.com/JarrettSullivan/status/1266425381910802432 …

That's not how self defense works. For lethal action, equivalent force is required. So, if you shoot someone with a knife, you'll be tried for murder. This video shows attempted vehicular homicide.

Tribalism and violence are features of human civilization. As we mature, we try to treat them as bugs in the code to be fixed. But alas, it's at times like this we see they are still deeply embedded features of the system.pic.twitter.com/gYu4SIG7uX

Violence is a bug? Breed violence out of your tribe and your men will be killed and replaced as has happened so many times in evolutionary history. Breed it out of all humans and squirrels, raccoons and any animals that live near humans will evolve to devour us.

Has the human civilization's behavior with respect to violence and dispute resolution evolved over the past 12,500 years? As our civilization continues to evolve, we should absolutely continue to think about reducing violence wherever possible.

Yes, the last 12,500 years have been a crucible of selection for greater male cooperation for use of violence. That's what explains "total Y chromosome replacement" events That's all that selection aims for; the ultimate aim of division of labor is an effective professional army
