Pfui. You might remember the Humiliation of Canossa. The Cathedral is not something in which it is possible to have a controlling stake. That's part of the problem.

Not capital, no. Capital is not part of the Cathedral. It has been in a subservient position for a long time. Days when big business owners had armies of hired thugs are a century in the past. Business is extremely vulnerable to state action (and inaction) and to legal threats. >

The whole society, particularly the financial system, has become much more transparent, and provided one has Cathedral support it is now easier to go after malefactors than ever before. Smaller entities simply cannot afford getting on the bad side of the law. Bigger entities >

Sure, but no big baker will risk trying to not make cakes. Exceptions are rara avis. Chick-fil-A was humiliated and forced to do penance just for donating to the wrong groups, not for anything so blatant as refusing to serve alphabet-soup customers.

Sure there are people who are actively pushing it forward and know what they're doing. Zuck is one. (Remember how he tried to avoid testifying in Congress? Some all-powerful CEO.) But I find the standard NRx explanation for it sufficient without needing to resort to conspiracy >>
