I was being half-ironic. It's a shame that they didn't have the sixth book to work with and most of the later half of the show was pretty bad. I do however think that, viewed as a satire, Season 8 is just gut-bustingly funny

I suspect that the books will have just as bad an ending but one that's less ham-handed and stupid in execution - which is why GRRM is utterly terrified to release another book.
