Overall, if you’re confident Lockdowns are good policy (& dislike Trump) you shouldn’t be losing any sleep over the idea that ending lockdowns ‘too soon’ will help Trump win. As you surely know, it’ll be A HUMANITARIAN DISASTER that will sweep Biden into office easily. ...right?https://twitter.com/soncharm/status/1262174739461804033 …

It's performative though; demand the impossible (permanent lockdown) knowing that ending the lockdowns will end in massive numbers of deaths then blame the other side and claimed that you issued the warning. They may have issued a warning but they sure didn't give an alternative

the ‘alternative’ is apparently 3 billion tests administered per month and a National Test & Trace Corps that employs 100x as many people as the census ;)

You say that as if it's impossible yet South Korea is managing the equivalent. It's only impossible because of the other stuff that progressives have wanted - a country where our strength is diversity and government hiring isn't done by exam b/c of disparate impact, etc.

*impossible in the extant context of the US as currently constituted, & given the degree of unchecked & widely-separated contagion that (unlike in SK) has already occurred I’d agree there may’ve been a window when SK-style containment was possible; it probably closed back on Jan

The window on a US that could have done SK-style containment started to close around 1965; not in January of this year.
