It shows how many have the antibodies. But how many fought it off without the need for new antibodies, and how many Spanish are susceptible to the virus in the first place? I am getting the impression from this crisis that the science of immunity is still rather young. Fair?
No. It's a novel zoonotic; everyone is susceptible because no one has a pre-existing immunity.

But what if for most people lung mucus (say) was sufficient to repel the virus? Meanwhile for older people, or those with vitamin D deficiency or something, the mucus was less effective, placing more reliance on antibodies. Immunity? Susceptibility? Whatevs

There's zero evidence for your "what if". There's a virus; it's hit upon a formula to reproduce in human cells that all humans happen to share and it does. Maybe there's some tiny subpopulation that's immune and they'll be found through study after this thing spreads everywhere
