How is there less demand for food?!?
Restaurants are closing so that shifts demand to food processing plants and supermarkets; if they're pouring out milk that is normally being drunk or made in to cheese then people are eating less Apply that to the whole country and it means starvation? Eating private stockpiles?

Ok, this makes sense - partly. Grocery stores can handle a traffic of X tons per day and are at that limit normally; demand has increased (closed restaurants) and they can't expand beyond X tons per day. Still leaves people with less food than normal but it solves part of it.
