Talk about teachers cheating to boost student test scores because they are incentivized to raise their scores, but when a bunch of very earnest white people try to bribe inner city kids to get at least C grades, the question of those kids just cheating for the money isn't asked.

I knew before even hearing the results that just paying kids money to get better grades wouldn't work in the long run. I figured the results would be underwhelming (they were) & who the heck knows what % of the paltry increases that did happen were due to cheating.

Regarding the stuff about black vs white names, I bet if a guy's first name was Jim Bob, he would get less interview callbacks too. And discriminating against 'black' names even if they have the same 'credentials' as 'white' names makes tons of sense.

1) Blacks with the same credentials as whites score LOWER on tests of competence. Black college grads are about as smart as white high school dropouts. 2) Blacks with same credit scores & income as whites are more likely to default on loans. (Less reliable) 3) Lawsuit risk.

Their idea about the drop in crime in the 1990s as having a lot to do with future criminals being aborted in the 1970s & 1980s I think has some truth to it. And they admit that locking up more criminals played a role. However...

Their other ideas about what did or did not cause the drop in crime are really stupid. They say they think more gun control played a small role, but that is stupid. The Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 expired in 2004, & crime still kept going down.

They think that the good economic times of the 1990s lowered crime. It is shocking that a so-called 'economist' would think such a thing. The correlation over the decades is that crime goes UP during good economic times, & goes down in bad ones! Did they really not check!?

Crime was getting really bad in the late 1980s, but the economy was doing much better during that time than it was in the late 1970s & early 1980s.

They said that more aggressive policing had absolutely nothing to do with the drop in crime, but somehow locking up more people did help?

At the end they were doing some fart-huffing about how their own incentives are "to be honest, because we built our whole reputation" on being honest. But early when talking about how abortion lowers crime, they say it is totally not racial. They're totally not racists, okay!

Part of crimestop is forgetting that you applied crimestop. You have to be pro affirmative action because everyone knows that without it blacks wouldn't go to higher tier colleges; you have to forget that this later. You have to be honest but then forget when you can't.
