Do everything you can do to protect yourself against confirmation bias. That means, first and foremost, read material with which you disagree everyday. When you have an idea, read arguments against it. It's like exercise. It's not fun. But it's necessary mental training.

One side has power, its opponents have arguments (because you need truth to persuade if you don't have power). This advice is really only for the side with power and is useless for them since their aim is power and not truth anyway.
