Leftists on Wikipedia are going back and renaming the Spanish Flu, Asian Flu, and Hong Kong Flu with bland names like 1918 Flu Pandemic, etc. All because their hive mind decided a few days ago that geographic references are racist.

Exercise of the power of coordinated lying. Once they change the name in wikipedia they'll cite wikipedia as evidence that their preferred name is the real name and always was. The discussion there cites E Britannica as an argument for the change - it was changed there in 2009

Torn. On the one hand, I'm at war with the forces of political correctness. But on the other hand, I think I kind of like the year names better?? (Pandemics are global by definition, so time seems more relevant than spatial origin. & the Spanish flu didn't even come from Spain!)

Doesn't really matter which is a better naming scheme when you're dealing with a historical event that already has a name. Going back and rewriting the name of past events for current political debates then denying such a thing occurred is maximally dishonest.
