That's an absurd assertion. It's possible to see quite a bit just by observing but by your implied standard no one can compare any two places - never mind three - because you can only really be a native in one place. I know what I saw on my trips to China & what I see in the US

Yes, all very real downsides to life in China - most of which come from the fact that the Chinese themselves aren't the best people to have as neighbors (they're far from the worst though).

China has problems; China is also functional. The US is a multi-ethnic mess with a constant proxy race war going on. Yeah, actually manufacturing things is dangerous. Meanwhile, the US is so choked to death that it doesn't bother. The 2nd Avenue subway had a perfect safety record and built 17 miles of track in 88 years.
