Our problems go back *a lot* further than 2016. 2016 shone a light on a dark room and the roaches scattered - that didn't mean it wasn't roach infested before that.

Would be interesting to compare stats on that but I don't think that's actually the case. When in NY most people have crimestop blinders on to not see all the problems that are so blatant because they're so uncomfortable for a good progressive to contemplate.

That's an absurd assertion. It's possible to see quite a bit just by observing but by your implied standard no one can compare any two places - never mind three - because you can only really be a native in one place. I know what I saw on my trips to China & what I see in the US
