USG is utterly drained of competence at the lowest levels because we threw out civil service exams because they had "disparate impact". Why isn't there soap in airport bathrooms? Why don't US Customs ask about travel to Italy? Because the on the ground ability isn't there. 2/x

This one is the most vague but the left has been growing more delusional and hostile over time as reality keeps disappointing them and they transmit this hostility from high to low. This hostility makes it impossible to take measures that rely on voluntary action. 4/x
