The far right is also in favor of social sanction against blaspheme but since our religion isn't an insane denial of reality you can avoid accidentally running into the Holy Inquisition while doing actual science.https://twitter.com/michaelshermer/status/1232814649034166272 …
Granting your statement for the purpose of argument - it can still be socially corrosive to state. Not everyone is capable of sticking to a high trust equilibrium by mere reflection. You can offer all the incentive you please, some simply can't be incentivized.

Yes. That's what Noble Lies are: falsehoods that would be socially corrosive (to someone's preferred equilibrium) to contradict. Like how it's socially corrosive (with respect to my former religion's social order) to talk about sex differences in public.https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/tCwresAuSvk867rzH/speaking-truth-to-power-is-a-schelling-point …

I'm not sure what's your case, seeing as Noble Lie adherents absolutely thrash the competition despite their argumentative handicap. Look at all those IQ-denying Comp. Biol PhDs, with their Emperor's New Clothes Schelling Point. Maybe religion is more competitive than truth.
