I've had many people respond to the @WSJ essay by claiming that it's impossible to assert a "biological truth" out of context. This is just another version of the "biology is a social construct" argument. This isn't true, here are several context-independent "biological truth's":

DNA is a molecule of inheritance. Chromosomes exist. Whales are a different organism than bats. Most bird species can fly. Eyes are involved in vision. Some species reproduce sexually. Male and female organisms exist. These are all true independent of humans and society.
