Two people I'd actually be interested in debating - on TOTALLY opposite ends of the spectrum - are @nhannahjones and @colinflaherty. Can you convince me that (1) most American uniqueness traces to slavery OR that (2) racial violence is epidemic in 2020?

People have made massive changes to their lives based on the threat of racial violence - the actual level of it is a low background compared to what would be the case if everyone didn't go to great lengths to isolate themselves from *problematic* demographics

Edgy right-wing types often say this, but there's not much evidence of it. So, first, the actual IRC figures (from a quantitatively sound GOP administration) are very low - Blacks are 15% of those who attack whites, whites <20% of those who attack Blacks. https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv18.pdf …

B on W 15.6, W on B 10.3. Both groups experience majority of victimization from own groups. If someone is concerned about well being of a group it is criminal behavior of that group they should be out to fight. If they're a good American it is all crime. The race war is overhyped

It's interesting that there IS one REAL point here a smart "dissident" could make - the tiny-ass rate of WoB crime is even smaller than the tiny-ass rate of BoW crime, and the media's presentation of whites as mob killers is disgusting fantasy. But, still: no race war.

There was already a race war - it ended with ethnic cleansing of every city that had a significant black population.
