This whole kerfuffle started because Klavan was reviewing THE WITCHER when he complained about women fighting with a sword. So how far are you willing to suspend disbelief? Dragons and wizards and whatnot are okay? But women warriors? Just too unrealistic! Huh.

Human society is still imaginable with dragons and wizards and almost the whole point of fantasy is imagining how society changes because of magic. Woman having the inclination and strength to be warriors implies a society that's unrecognizable - a far bigger change than magic.
