I generally advocate precise and careful language. But at some point, if I say that "Men are taller than women" and you object because you know a counter example, then the fault lies not with me, but with you not recognizing that it's obviously implicitly a statistical statement.

Sorry, I agree that this idea is totally abusable for isolated demands for rigor (only demand effect sizes for claims you don't like), but at the same time, d values are actually more informative than words like "small" if you can visualize the partially-overlapping bell curves

I want to focus more on conveying information to people who know how to read, rather than maintaining a balance of power between political factions (but it's OK if you don't trust me and think I'm just saying that as a clever rationalization for things that benefit my faction)
