Journalist persuasion is basically a trick - it's priest-style persuasion ("believe whatever multiple authorities agree on"). They persuade purely by shamelessly, stubbornly sticking to the script and as long as they all stick to the same script, they're "persuasive". https://twitter.com/SelimSeesYou/status/1207410087205199872 …

Media don't even have to be persuasive. They just have to silence people. They show what those in power - the media owners - believe, and if you speak up they can make sure you get in trouble. In time a new generation is truly persuaded, as they never hear any counter-arguments.

>those in power - the media owners Marxist nonsense. The powerful group is the network of journalists who will tacitly coordinate to all speak the same thing. Media "owners" are supplicants begging for protection or a slice of power.

This is how intertwined journalists are. You think the owner of some newspaper tells these people what to do? Absolutely not - they coordinate and have powerful asabiyyah.https://twitter.com/asymmetricinfo/status/1207060487311110149 …

Megan McArdleVerified account @asymmetricinfoI met my husband the old fashioned way--in@mattyglesias backyard. But if you are Catholic, and do not have access to his backyard, this seems like a decent alternative. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/catholic-dating-gets-a-makeover-53313?fbclid=IwAR2QBrKo-5kEDyM9eQO6BQLW03d3aEJGeooVU1_dNLEiVGxUR1mq7SvAEwc …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Next time you think "media reports what the powerful media owners want reported" think about how Megan would react to a phone call from Bezos telling her to spike a story vs how she'd react to social pressure from the people who invited her to a party where she met her husband
