The problem social conservatives face is that they don't *know* how to enact cultural stigmas other than fruitlessly evangelizing about it to an audience that isn't listening. Rather than, say, studying how cultural stigmas actually get successfully enacted, as Lefties do.https://twitter.com/bdomenech/status/1203791153906225154 …

This is another example where social conservatives should work to reestablish cultural stigmas, which are far more powerful and enduring than government regulation.

One way cultural stigmas get enforced is basic Skinnerian negative conditioning. Action resulting in negative (i.e., unpleasant) stimulus means the subject will learn to avoid the action. No ability to produce negative stimulus, no avoidance response.

Socialcons only know how to produce negative stimulus when they're in the majority, and then mostly for their own flock. They don't know how to use their flock to produce negative stimulus against outsiders, especially as an unpopular minority.

For people asking, "But how do you produce a cultural stigma as a minority?" the answer is "you have to build local structures that are active, meaningfully numerous, loud, and above all consistent irritants in response to a particular set of stimuli you wish to stigmatize"

If the vocal minority's stove is constantly hot, eventually powerful majorities learn that if they touch it they get burned. Gotta be able to keep that stove hot, though.

A good example to learn from is the way unions talk about scabs (people who take jobs when a union is trying to strike against the employer). That's a very successful example of a minority using (minority, but still-meaningful) numbers, structure, & consistency to create stigma.

Clarity is also crucial, IMO. As a liberal, I was glad when my side realized the way to change minds on gay marriage was not the equivocal "Like, who are you to say that being gay is wrong?" but "It's *good* and *right* to love who you love, and immoral to deprive people of it."

Both of you are deluded about this. Your side never persuaded anyone - they won by force and everyone went along. Gay marriage was even defeated by votes in *California*. This is the usual pattern and will repeat when we roll back the cultural revolution as well.
