Trump's hyperbole on showers was ... Trumpian. And it's true, as Josh Barro says, that toilets have improved.http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/12/president-trump-is-wrong-toilets-are-good-now.html …

5L toilets have existed basically as long as I can remember, and you and I are the same age. Same with showers. Basically the only people who remember the previous type are boomers, and they’re thinking about their childhood and early 20s

I grew up in an apartment with toilets from the thirties, so ...

Context for those of you not from NYC - this isn't Megan boasting about poverty - this is Megan boasting about wealth. "I lived in a pre-war apartment on the Upper West Side" Not "I lived in a run-down shack"

It's not "boasting about wealth"; that was an unexceptional upper-middle-class area in the 1970s and 80s. Unlike now.

"Unexceptional upper-middle-class" in NYC only seems low because its close in proximity to globe spanning wealth. Living in a pre-war apartment on the UWS *as a child* implies a large degree of wealth or at least income.

My parents had an income, in that my father worked for the city. But the apartment I grew up in cost about $275k in todays dollars; they bought it in 1972, when the city was losing population.

Is this accurate? Is that what you mean by "worked for the city"?pic.twitter.com/HWnN03U4oC
