Basically, in sexist countries like the United Arab Emirates, the males are lazy, so only downtrodden girls will take tough STEM courses. In feminist Sweden, in contrast, women can do whatever they want, which often turns out to be paid childcare, so the diligent guys do STEM. https://twitter.com/a_centrism/status/1198150500115533825 …

Just like Steve Sailer - dismissing genetic explanations out of hand. Maybe ME women were under selective pressure to be interested in STEM when Euro women weren't?

Muslim Middle Eastern women aren't particularly good at STEM, but they do work harder at learning STEM subjects than many Muslim Middle Eastern men do.

The same selective pressures that select for different interests can select for different abilities and in fact, is strong evidence of this effect - why select for unused mental capacity? Arguing for like ability b/c of common parentage is also an argument for like interest.

But it does, in fact "go away" - at least compared to your brothers. On top of that interest is equally a mental trait! If ability can't just go away, then interest can't either, yet here we are.

Yes, this is the mechanism by which the genetic influence on interest is expressed. Since this exists, it was selected for - meaning that evolution is perfectly capable of selecting for mental traits that differ in related men and women. This should be incredibly obvious.
