Of course, the last 72 finalists in the Olympic men's 100 meter dash, from 1984 to 2016, have been at least half-sub-Saharan in ancestry, but all racial groups are equal in 100m sprint ability and that just transpired due to 72 consecutive random flukes.

Elite sport is a search for extreme genetic anomalies. As people of (recent) African descent have vastly more genetic diversity than Western Europeans, doesn't it stand to reason that the former is where those anomalies will be found?

If that were true, you'd see these very unusual people winning races at the national level, but not much in the average high school - because they'd be so rare. But if it was a difference in the average, the effect would be widespread - and it is.

High school sports aren't average they're about 1 standard deviation rather than 4 or more at the elite level.
