Where does this Received Wisdom come from that Bloomberg is a 'centrist' candidate. What exactly is more 'centrist' about him than e.g. Warren. The tax thing? She muses about a (fictional, unconstitutional) tax & he doesn't, they agree on everything else, hence he's 'centrist'?
Bernie is no different unless you believe in Marxism - that the (D)s are engaged in some kind of plot to prevent real, working communism b/c they're controlled by the capitalists. Reality - they're the administrators of how a communist state actually has to function in reality.

Well he at least nominally has a different disposition towards liberalism and capitalism than the rest is what I mean. I don't think he would be able to make any meaningful changes, of course, but he presents something other than minor, hollow tweaks to a broken machine.

He doesn't because Marxism is a coordination mechanism for a conspiracy and not a way to actually govern. How do you tweak USG to give more stuff to its clients? It already gives more than is long term sustainable. It already drives out any industry based on fixed capital.
