He'll be bullied out of a job though. You know, the thing that is a heavy part of cancel culture.

He *was* bullied out of a job, fueled by people ostensibly opposed to cancel culture!

Yes, to prove a point. And, it was definitely proven. Even if you disagree with the method (which I do) the point is clearly made. Living in denial that the mechanism that is cancel culture doesn't exist when you have it used against you is not respectable. It's idiotic.

I think the perspective he lays out is pretty naive but the people who pretend to be opposed to cancel culture who helped get him fired n still gloat about it are exhibiting either a similar lack of self-awareness or a naked bad faith hypocrisy IMO

I don't like how he doesn't seem to have reflected at all about if he was correct to do what he did. He just asserts he was right. The reason people were angry with him was bc he broadened the scope of his article into a profile of Carson King as a whole person,

He didn't broaden the scope though, according to this he followed publication's standard procedure for checking backgrounds and is taking the fall for editorial decision to publish https://twitter.com/DMRegister/status/1176705031468457985 … Also the obvious fact that King wasn't actually cancelled but this guy was

Lmfao Will... King lost a big sponsorship & had his name dragged for days. It cancelled a gain for him & a very positive thing he did. And, it could follow him into his future too. It is an obvious fact that King was cancelled. Cancelling does not have a single narrow outcome.

It seems like King is doing fine and the tweets didn't bring him down (nor should they have), while this dude was fired and is unemployedpic.twitter.com/WD4JR8LZAq

Yes, a person donated the beer b/c they thought it unfair the guy was getting cancelled real time

. It doesn't negate he was dragged online, AB denounced him publicly b/c of the it, & AB withdrew their sponsorship. And, it could have future employment impacts to add to it.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I'm not saying it was good, but you see the asymmetry I'm referring to here right? Again, this is the guy that was cancelled, and he's being trashed right now pretty much exclusively by people who claim to be opposed to cancel culture, because he has a different view

Entirely wrong. He's being trashed because he took steps that look like prep to take despicable actions and lost his livelihood. He advocates a standard that can result in nothing but chaos and injustice and got a demonstration as to why and still doesn't change his stance.
