The choice isn't between a republic (with all the theoretical benefits of public accountability) and an unresponsive King - it's between unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats and a King with a personal ownership stake in the country and therefore an incentive to not destroy it

Providing good governance is *extremely* valuable. Merely providing good leadership of men in business is massively valuable - providing good governance is more complex and more valuable. Singapore is nothing but a well governed rock in the sea and is massively valuable.
