I understand that culture matters, but the culture war is tedious at times. I wish more conservative outlets would focus on controversial science and real threats to free speech than the latest SJW attack on The Joker or some other identity issue.

What do you think the real threats to Free Speech in the west are, and how can we counter them?

Attempts to stifle research on human variation, for example. We can publish articles about it and try to discuss it more openly. Unz Review does this. And I give them credit. I would like it if NRO and other outlets did as well.

But presumably there are powerful entities whose job it is to attack anyone who talks about human variation. It's not clear to me that speaking truth wins against doxxing, deplatforming, getting fired etc. These enemies of free speech are in strong positions.

Right. I agree. That’s why people have to work together to battle against them.

I guess where I disagree is I don't think that talking about object-level issues actually helps. The people who like truth need to work out how to dismantle the lie-machine, not how to argue with it.

Dismantling the lie-machine involves demonstrating that it *is* a lie-machine and doing that requires discussion on the object-level

I think that has already been done to the nth degree and the problem is now that the lie-machine will fire you for telling the truth.

The lie-machine is also a "bury evidence of there being a lie-machine"-machine so the truth has to constantly be repeated and documented for new audiences

that still doesn't sound like a way to make any actual progress. I think the solution is to change the structure of the debate rather than to try to change its content. What are the structures that facilitate censorship?
