Right, metro systems are completely different. Take the 2nd Avenue subway in NY, for example - that was completed for only $2.5 billion per mile and took a mere 45 years to construct.

The track record for the running of the best run metro system in the country is horrible (others are worse) & expanding it was massively expensive and took half a century to expand it by eight and a half miles The idea that this system could expand to *replace the car* is insane
