Almost all smart people struggle with common sense, in my view. There's also an observable syndrome in hyper-smart people where expertise in one area licenses them to feel as if they're experts in many others https://twitter.com/fatprop/status/1165112585030529031?s=20 …

Look for questions for which people with higher IQ are more likely to be wrong than those with lower IQs.

Somewhat related, via @LionBlogosphere: according to this, people with IQs >140 are underrepresented in elite professions. http://polymatharchives.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-inappropriately-excluded.html?m=1 …

Consistent with this, there’s a test prep company that only hires instructors who scored in the top 1% on their tests - Manhattan GMAT. These are people who are smarter than 99% of MBAs and yet work part time in test prep.

They scored in the top 1% of the GMAT - they're not smarter than 99% of MBAs unless every person who took the GMAT got an MBA. At some level of intelligence you realize that if you don't get into a top 14 MBA program, it's a waste of money

Those who realize that probably skew smarter though. You’re right that the population of GMAT test takers isn’t exactly the same as the population of MBAs, but it’s not clear which group is smarter. IOW, scoring in the top 1% of test takers might put you in the top <1% of MBAs.
