Sex differences because population differences are pretty straightforward and are investigated. Evo psych which is supposed to study the important differences between men and women embeds assumptions that prevent them from noticing differences - they use survey results!https://twitter.com/EPoe187/status/1156235247018827776 …

"We sent out cohorts to ask men and women if they would like to have sex with the cohort and tabulated the response" PUAs conduct better research than this b/c the true answer to that question isn't expressed in words it's expressed in whether or not the pair end up in bed

"We asked men and women to evaluate interactions and assess if the woman was flirting - the women said they were a much lower % of the time than the men thought they were" Then they analyze it as if women would tell the truth or understand their own sexual motivation - absurd

When asked about sex afterward (by humans, not researchers) they *quite honestly* say "it just happened" when in reality every step the woman took allowed or encouraged the escalation and isolation needed

"When surveyed women have less interest in casual sex than men" - oh really? Did you conduct the survey backstage at a rock concert? Did the women explicitly say they were there for sex? (Of course they didn't)

surveys/self-reporting have flaws across the board:self-described lesbians have higher teen pregnancy, blacks lie more about if they do drugs. not sure how much this is a distinctly WQ thing

It's a WQ thing because of the constraints on experiments that are supposed to understand sexual desire. A true experiment either relies on self-reports, analysis of interactions that require skilled assessments where there are no credentials that actually measure those skills or

... or actually letting the interaction culminate in sex (or not). Even then there are a zillion variables.

I'm not sure i see a difference between survey and self-report in terms of avoiding bias.
