What do any "protesters" think is an endgame? Step 1: Gather in the streets Step 2: ??? Step 3: Declare yourselves the government It's cargo cultism of the shallowest view of the French Rev - "the people" overthrew the gvt (in reality, a fight between two elite factions)

Getting the extradition bill withdrawn was a reasonable goal, and they achieved that. But it would have been prudent to take the win and go home after that.

The incentives don't line up for that though - if they give in to one demand they're weak and will give in to others
This is part of the reason why it's such a bad way of actually making policy (as opposed to just signalling like in Korea as @Steve_Sailer discusses below)
