Oh I get it. The insufficiently far right can't handle Twitter specifically. Filtering is too much like judgment which is too much like responsibility, they can't tell good conflict from bad, humanity is a sewer. https://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=46541 …

"Twitter is trying to construct the world’s largest sewer. I don’t want a filter" Haha! No. Twitter is merely appealing to humanity, but humanity is sewage. And democratic humanity is worse.

If you don't want to be in a sewer, try Mars. On Earth, you must filter. I've said before that free speech merely means everyone gets to dump their idiosyncratic sewage into the common well. And then the most virulent crap will spread.

There's necessary conflict, and unnecessary conflict. Leftists can't tell the difference. (Discrimination and judgment again, though I think it might be a biological handicap.)

If you can't tell the good fights from the pointless ones, you have two choices: fight every fight, or surrender every fight. (Shamus leans to surrender, but will fight for proggie aesthetics; i.e. surrendering to proggies.) Either way you become insufferable.

Since humanity is sewage, your choices are to filter, or to eat sewage. But if you "don’t like blocking strangers who never interacted with me. This woman is a jerk, but she’s not breaking any rules" (Ref: surrender to proggies) why might you be like that?

Because blocking is inegalitarian. You must judge this $[woman] as inferior. You must discriminate between sewage and not-sewage. And as per Nick Land, that would be discrimination. And then you're responsible for what you see on Twitter. Leftism is irresponsibility.

Shamus doesn't want to take a position - he just wants to stay out of it But he doesn't quite get this:https://twitter.com/i_contemplate_/status/1022865431114272768 …
