In Millennials Rising, published in 2000, Strauss and Howe go to great lengths to illustrate how much power Millennial girls had in the culture and in the education system as my generation was beginning to head off to college. (I graduated in 2008)

Exactly. In keeping with their early predictions, had they foreseen something like
#metoo
, they'd have said, "A flood of stories on sexual harassment will draw young women into becoming leading voices on addressing the problem while also endeavoring to heal relations with men." -
The other breakthrough, for me, was the realization they characterized the changes in MF relationships in the 1960s and 70s as comparable with changes that had happened when the last Boomer-like generation was young in the 1890s and 1900s. In some respects, they were right.
