Post-war Europe is vastly overrated by upper middle class strivers who spent a semester abroad & returned set on "enlightening" us benighted prole 'muricans. Last I checked, the continent survives as a Historical Disneyland for tourism. We have their books here, I'd prefer Japan.

Evolved solutions to problems take time but cities layouts stay fixed American cities are a nightmare at least in part because when they were built no evolved solutions to the problems of cities existed for the post-industrial post-automobile world - contrast Europe
