Technically, abortion is (the only?) "birth control." Everything else is really "conception control."

People should be using contraception instead of "birth control". We should be aiming to prevent pregnancy (provided you're looking to prevent a baby, of course) instead of birth. Once you're past contraception, it's not "birth control" it's killing someone.

When I looked into it, the doctor wanted to “clear it” through my wife.

They’ll refuse to give an 18 year old a vasectomy but, inject a 10-12 with puberty blockers and estrogen. Rendering them sterile.
