The sad part is that it took RMS making excuses for sex trafficking for him to get kicked out. He's been a hindrance to the free software movement for many years now, in technical/licensing/endorsement/general image matters.

rms wasn't really stopping any of those from carrying the movement, but as it turns out they'd rather have corporate dinners than a mission. I don't like rms either, but even ignoring the FSF the movement is in a sad state.

It's the difference between Free and Open Source. Free sees software as a movement, Open Source sees it as a useful tool.

We still have the FSF, I don't see a problem.

I'm saying the FSF having had diminished relevancy over the past few years due to rms has not given rise to any alternative org, so the slow going may be related to the movement as a whole losing traction.
