The rumor source would have reasons after sawing that to doubt that it has separated from the 2nd stage and got accidentally de-orbited, because this had exactly happened with the Russians in December 2015 with Kanopus-ST: http://russianspaceweb.com/kanopus-st.html (2/3)
Of course I think this is somewhat unlikely due to rumors seemingly come from multiple sources, and this is impossible to be proven (unless it got declassified in decades/centuries), but at least it can be busted if satellite observers saw something unknown in orbit.... (3/3)
