Beware catalog watchers - a major change is occurring tomorrow. All Beidou satellites until 2016 have been named to match the UN registry. You should see the change on @SpaceTrackOrg tomorrow.

Haven't had time to check the UN catalog - how does the name format looks like?

Varies. First two are Chinasat. Then one compass. Then several BeiDou with a #. Then several with BD-#.

Yes, it's too bad the latest Chinese UN filing was so sloppy, their naming is all over the place. (Some Yaogan are "Remote Sensing Sat", others are "Yaogan", etc)

I’m going to avoid the Yaogan because of their secret military missions. It would confuse too many govt programs. But I want to clean up the commercial use items.

Understood. I'm just saying that in a perfect world, using UN names would be 'cleaning things up', but alas in this world I'm not sure it is!

As I said earlier in other places, it would be much clearer if the Chinese uses spacecraft vehicle numbers for their navigation satellites. Alas BDS don't even have public status messages! Considering my phone already uses BDS, it's really awkward compared w/ other GNSS.
