Indeed, Russia is making a mistake that they will live to regret. A boon to JAXA.
I wonder if @ISRO will join instead, they're now dead set on HSF but their system have nowhere to go after flying their own astronauts in a few years' time. With their nation strategically closing in w/ US/Japan etc. this seems like a no-brainer, if not even joining @NASAArtemis.

Right, all kind of upsides for any ambitious space program that wants to do what it can to fill the vaccum left by Russia. Is a win-win. I don't include Europe in there, because Europe doesn't really have an ambitious space program beyond doing the bare minimum to join the party
