i think the difficulty in getting SpaceX here to ASEAN or anywhere in general is ITAR, in my opinion, it is unlikely it will ever happen. The best result that could come from this meeting is SpaceX setting up a regional Starlink ground station in Indonesia

That is possible, but yeah, very seriously doubtful SpaceX is doing launches from there. I mean his future plans do not have him even doing launches from land at all.

Well Indonesia is straddling the Equator. But it’s prone to earthquakes, and tsunamis (Indian Ocean 2004, Krakatoa 2018), and a good number of active volcanoes. I can think of many better places to put a launch site in.

in terms of ITAR and your considerations, Australia is a much better candidate, it is at least in the 5 eyes group and have already partnered with NASA for the DSN.
