Watershed? The Soviets accomplished pretty much the same mission 50 years ago
Well the Soviet ones were also coming fairly close to being real precursor missions for HSF lunar missions. And the Soviet lunar sample return missions were state-of-the-art, but still had less complex operations (2 S/C stages instead of 4) & 20+ times less sample capacity.
