~20 years ago I was the media escort for the Athena I Kodiak Star launch. The keep-out zone was (if I recall) 10,000 ft from the pad, which put the boundary right about where the launch control center was. There was room for public viewing along Pasagshak road west of there.
Seeing recent activities with Astra Space reminds me this question: Are the any ways to watch a launch publically at Pacific Spaceport Complex – Alaska (Kodiak)? I doubt that many did this before, but I'm curious if someone here actually tried.

I have no idea what the current boundaries or rules are, but at the time it was probably the closest public access you could get to an orbital launch pad in the US. It’s a gorgeous place. We watched whales (or some cetacean) spouting in the distance while we waited.
