I'm surprised that there are far fewer satellites on the "afternoon orbit" side than the "morning side" for optical satellites (the big clump around 10 am LTDN; the smaller one around 6 am are usually radar ones AFAIK). Does anyone knows why?
The atmosphere is much calmer in the mornings. Atmosphere has cooled and stabilized whilst in earth’s nighttime shadow . The daytime heating causes turbulence in rising air currents that blur optical sats, but not SAR imaging sats
Nadir and cloud/atmosphere clear observations are bes. For capturing and sending data too.
