Mixed feelings here on this plan. AFAIK, parachute mid-air catching has been in use for decades (mainly for film return capsules of spysats), but not for a long heavy object like that. It should be doable, but finding the right pilots and helicopters aren't going to be cheap I think? (paging @SpacecoastPix)
Rocket Lab already owns the helicopter, AFAIK. They actually use it regularly to commute launch staff to and from Mahia.
It's a great first step. Took SpaceX until Block 5 to make the Falcon 9 properly reusable, but they had to start somewhere too. Agree the costs of making the rocket re-flyable will be high at first, but improvements geared at reuse will come if the capture method works out.
