@elonmusk Please see if there are ways to reduce reflected light downwards from the later batches of Starlink satellites, as they seems to be "more shiny/higher albedo" than others. Maybe some coatings/extra mirrors would help. Thanks!

Agreed, sent a note to Starlink team last week specifically regarding albedo reduction. We’ll get a better sense of value of this when satellites have raised orbits & arrays are tracking to sun.

Not sure if I'd like that personally tbh and I am talking as an amateur astronomer Starlink is beautiful to look at. Think of the people who only look up at the sky with the naked eye. The Starlink glitter band is probably the single most interesting object that they can look at

Making them darker would still annoy astrophotographers who can't figure out how to remove satellites in postprocessing, but it would make them invisible to naked eye observers watching from urban areas, who would otherwise benefit

The guys currently making noise do NOT represent the stargazing community as a whole. Only people who complain are entry level astrophotographers. Starlink won't disturb those who use their eyes instead of cameras, or those who can use software to clear moving dots in postproc.
