So there's a press release out about new images from @NASAInSight: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?release=2018-280 … But those new images haven't shown up on the raw images page: https://mars.nasa.gov/insight/multimedia/raw-images/?order=sol+desc%2Cdate_taken+desc&per_page=50&page=0&mission=insight … Does somebody need to turn off the image server and turn it on again @NASAInSight ?

The fun thing about the image I posted is you can totally see how the landing rockets blew away the fines around the landing site, creating wind shadows behind pebbles.

Haha there's already some dust in the
@NASAInSight scoop, how'd that get in there? (Rockets blowing dust around, probably.) You can also see some really fine stuff adhering to other parts of the arm.pic.twitter.com/8wCv3XY549

Fun fact: There's only a scoop on the InSight arm because the arm was a leftover from a canceled mission that was supposed to dig (Surveyor lander). It's not needed for science but you can bet the scientists will want to dig with it eventually.

Most of the canceled Surveyor lander flew to Mars as the Phoenix mission, but Phoenix needed a more robust (& more sterile) arm so Surveyor's arm remained on the shelf & InSight took it. InSight's cameras are spares from Curiosity.https://twitter.com/petebrooksbank/status/1070777330648403968 …

No, Mars Global Surveyor, that flew to Mars in the '90s.

Not that one either. It was Mars Surveyor 2001, which was a precursor to MER and Phoenix on a lander and the mission was cancelled just 1 year before its launch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Surveyor_2001_Lander …
