Here on the other side of the world we are bracing for impact by a typhoon expected to brush by within 100-ish km of where I'm at Cat. 4 strength on Sunday. Typhoons are no strangers to us but this is the strongest one in decades. (same one that blew through Guam a few days ago)

Well thanks to building codes from the British colonial era our buildings and apartments should be OK to withstand such wind speeds. Coastal flooding is the real concern (we were hit by a Cat. 3 last August without much damage, compared w/ nearby Macau: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Hato …)
