I’m glad civil rights activists didn’t take your position or I wouldn’t be here. From the labor movement to the suffrage movement, folks who understood that, the power of the people is greater than the people in power, are the ones who make change despite the odds.https://twitter.com/winbaldy/status/936970839563603969 …

I'm sorry Senator but I respectfully disagree. The average American has no say in the decision making process. It is the donor class making the decisions.

I appreciate your statement but it seems our democracy is more broken now. I haven't given up, but when a party is impervious to the will of the people, and when they not only disenfranchise voters in old fashioned ways but make no efforts to secure voting machines, it's hard.

I agree with you Senator, but the difference now is the people who get to vote on behalf of their constituents are not listening to their constituents. Sadly that’s often because $ talks louder. The government of, by and for the people is being bought out and we’re frustrated.

ATNJ walks the talk. We helped multiple candidates get elected in the 2017 election in NJ, including our new governor, with canvassing, donation drives, calls and phone banking, events and boots-on-the-ground activism. We will repeat in 2018. Be part of it.

        1) Respectfully senator (because you are one of the few I respect), I believe @Winbaldy is making a nuanced point. They 'average' citizen does not have a say that's anywhere near to being the equivalent of a single wealthy donor.

This is a different time man. The 1% are running this country. Congress/House all vote the way the mega-rich pay them to. Change comes when you all start drafting bills to end lobbying & get 💰 out of politics, but let’s be honest, none of you will take💰 out of your own pockets

I want to have hope. It’s very difficult to have right now. There are too many self serving liars in govt now, empowered by voters who elect them via the pandering sound bytes they generate. Voters unwilling to do ANY due diligence will continue to spearhead America’s decline.

Even if we take majorities in both houses the damage has been done. The next recession will decimate the middle class further, and democrats will be skewered for raising taxes. I’m very disheartened this morning.
