    Great to spend this morning with our new Governor! I look forward to working with to fight COVID and for NYC’s future. I’ve spent so much with Gov. Hochul over the years when she was LG and visited my district many, many times.

    Life has had its ups and downs - but my one constant over the last 12 years is that no matter what life has thrown my way - I’ve never picked up a drink or drug again. It’s all just been a day at a time.

    But it wasn’t too long until I had lost track of my priorities and my goals and my family and my own potential. I drank and used drugs from 21 years old until 27 years old and finally had a moment of grace and some loving help from sober friends on July 13th, 2009.

    12 years ago, at just about this time, I drank and used drugs for the last time. My biological father and my step father were both alcoholics. And I remember the turmoil and pain that alcohol caused during my childhood - I told myself that I would never let that happen to my life
