3500 words a day. Best in the morning or very late. Includes Sundays and holidays. On the road or in the home office. 3500. I make this goal almost every day; rare not to. Code can be included.

That sounds aggressive! How many hours a day does that translate too?
-
Usually under 2hrs, typically an hr + half. Writing nonsense is ok sometimes, because the words don't flow, dam up, and I often keep 2-3 projects open simultaneously. If I'm blocked in one direction, flow in the other. Rarely, I go further, maybe a few times/month. Write.

Violinists practice. Piano players. Artists. The important goal is to set a goal and consistently make the goal, day after day, relentlessly and unblocked. Start, work, finish, don't be distracted by the webtoobies. Shut out distractions, quiet the kids. Then flow. Rinse, repeat.
