During the Trump administration the Chinese wouldn’t dare send over a balloon—their spies were just allowed to go into Mar-A-Lago any time they wanted.
The number of Republican elected officials who insist our troops not get vaccinated against the bioweapons that have been used in warfare for decades who are now freaking out about a balloon is hilarious.
I’m seeing a lot of talk about how the petty insulting, racist bills the TN legislature is considering are the result of Nashville not allowing the GOP terrorist convention in 2024. But that’s not entirely true.
They’re punishing Nashville for not voting.
The College Board stripped down some of its AP curriculum for African American Studies after Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida threatened to ban it in his state.

If the Tennessee GOP *really* wanted to hit Nashville where it hurt, they’d repeal the law that allows passengers in vehicles to have open containers of alcohol.
My heart goes out tonight to the city that was my home for 15 years. You deserve justice. Tyre Nichols’ family deserves justice.
And we need to take real steps to prevent atrocities like this from happening, over and over again, in this country.
Apparently the SCOTUS investigation into the Dobbs leak didn't even consider the possibility that it came from one of the justices themselves.
Which is hilarious. And perfect. And terrible.
Companies buying entire neighborhoods as investments for their real estate funds? Pay sales tax on it.
Oh, you don’t want to do that—it’ll kill the economy?
You just want to tax poor people.
If you want to make a national sales tax fair, it’s got to apply to everything: business capital purchases, real estate, stock transactions.
Elon Musk needs to pay $13.2B in sales tax as a condition of buying Twitter.
Republicans only care about “wasteful spending” when a democrat is in the White House. Any other time, the budget is an unlimited line of credit to enrich themselves.
For context, roughly 25% of our total national debt incurred over the last 230 years actually occurred during the 4 years of the Trump administration. That's right. 25% of our entire national debt, all during the Trump years. twitter.com/SpeakerMcCarth…
If you want better education results, fully fund public education instead of trying to strangle it to death.
Can you imagine how good Tennessee’s education system could be if we spent the $19k per student that Germany does, instead of the $7k per student we do?
Shorter #schoolvouchers backers:
Using standardized tests to evaluate #publicschools#education is accountability.
But using standardized tests to evaluate voucher schools is “over-regulation.”
(Psst: This is why: tests show horrific voucher performance )
Today, I was proud to vote YES on the #BornAlive Abortion Survivors Act and speak on the floor in support of @RepMikeJohnson's resolution condemning violent attacks against #ProLife pregnancy centers.
I will always and forever stand to protect the unborn.
And yet prices aren’t going down, in spite of reduced costs and low fuel prices.
It’s almost as if inflation wasn’t related to the cost of producing goods & services at all, but instead what companies thought they could get away with charging.
Supply chains are back to normal, and the price of transporting a 40-feet container from China to the US West Coast has declined from $20,000 in September 2021 to $1,382 today
Here’s how you know someone is arguing in bad faith:
Clay here is asking for answers from a guy who retired last year.
It’s all posturing for his audience of dullards.
It’s becoming increasingly clear we have a significant number of young, healthy athletes dying suddenly at abnormal rates. When will Dr. Fauci allow us to start asking questions? When will all the sports media who said it wasn’t safe to play sports because of covid ask questions?
When you’re so rich you have your accountants deal with the IRS instead of trying to reach someone in person, this sounds like a good thing.
Real Americans who pay their taxes know how hard it is to get help from the IRS.
Plays that cannot be performed in Arizona if this law is passed (a very incomplete list):
• Twelfth Night
• The Merchant of Venice
• The Taming of The Shrew
• The Merry Wives of Windsor
• Chicago
• Hairspray
• Peter Pan
• A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder
Three bills just dropped in Arizona that would define "people dressing opposite of their biological sex at birth and exaggerating their gender" as "adult content."
It says they can only do it in strip clubs, not before noon on Sundays.
It threatens them with criminal records.
Talking to people about guns it struck me how everyone thought they should be allowed access to a gun.
And each and everyone one of them knew someone who under no circumstances should be allowed access to a gun.
A 6-year-old boy is in police custody after shooting a teacher at an elementary school in Virginia. The police chief says the teacher was shot inside a classroom and added that “this was not an accidental shooting.” https://cnn.it/3WQFy5L
Today Republicans will be talking about a lot of things in order to not talk about what happened two years ago, and the failure to bring those who organized and funded this terrorist action to justice.
Matt Gaetz says Trump didn't start a new war while in office. Steve Cohen shouts back that Trump started a war here, in Congress and tried to overthrow our government
If Trump gets nominated Speaker of the House, it would change everything.
By that I mean we would have to change all the indictments to “Speaker Trump”.
Ah yes, the “Democrats need to bail out the Republican clown show” theory of politics. How about 1) Republicans get their own house in order, 2) Republicans vote for Jeffries, who consistently gets the most votes, or 3) Republican offer concessions to Dems to get their votes? https://twitter.com/JustinWStapley/status/1610489985790271493…
The only thing this will delay is the Republican agenda, which, as stated, is “Hunter Biden’s laptop,” and “make abortion illegal nationally.”
So they can take two years to select a speaker.
This is a tempting perspective to adopt if your only concern is who bears the partisan political loss of all this. And I’m not so sure Americans will reward the Dems if this thing drags on and continues to delay meaningful work on pressing issues facing the country. twitter.com/HRCDemocrat/st…
With the disarray on the floor, it takes a steady hand to govern, which is why I’m announcing my candidacy for Speaker of The House of the 118th Congress.
